what a fantabulous idea!!!

OK, I was so a lover of BabySitters Club books when I was a kid. I ran into this post, which lead me to this blog. Basically this girl (an adult) is re-reading the entire series. I don't know if I have it in me to re-read all of them - there are 131 in just the regular series, not counting specials, and the newer Little Sister books! But I have often thought it'd be cool to re-read some favorites from my childhood...like BSC, or Judy Blume. Loved her! I read her fudge books when I was younger and then moved into older ones later on. I may have to check some out at the library....

old school cool

i found this cool link where you can make an old school card catalog card...
for trial purposes here, i wrote about the football game this weekend. but this would be cool to use and print for journaling on a layout!

{quote}

i found this quote on another blog and really liked it...

“Above all else, it is about leaving a mark that I existed. I was there. I was hungry. I was defeated. I was happy. I was sad. I was in love. I was afraid. I was hopeful. I had an idea and I had a good purpose and that’s why I made works of art.”

layout {thank you}

When we did the Walk Now for Autism, our team received some awesome donations from the staff at Dalton's school. Brigitte wanted me to make them a special Thank You layout...so here it is.

Journaling reads:
There are no sufficient words to express our gratitude for the giving hearts of Bethany Elementary School's Faculty and Staff. Thank you for your ongoing support!
With much gratitude,
The Herron Family, Dalton Help Foundation, and Team Dalton!

Products are all K&Co except puzzle chipboard.

photo {pogo ball}

I'm not sure exactly what this is called but these are a few shots of Spencer using one of his birthday gifts (basically a pogo ball with a handle thingy). My sister got it for him and it's pretty nifty. These pictures are from over a month ago...I'm so behind!

i liked this quote from a starbucks cup...

layout {trick or treat}

I completed this layout for a Survivor Challenge. I had to use the following techniques:
- Stitching
- Doodling
- 2 Stamps (not words/letters)
- Paint
- Transparency

I don't love the layout, but it's OK. I like that I got so many photos on one page! It was loosely based on a PageMaps sketch.

I'm getting in the Halloween mood so I thought it'd be fun to scrap some old photos (these are from 2005).

{window shopping at etsy}

for some reason, i really enjoy "window shopping" at etsy.com. as halloween approaches, and now that we finally got our decorations up, i am starting to get in the mood. i have never really loved halloween (and i hate dressing up in costumes)...however, i love holidays and decorating...and i love how much spencer loves halloween. he's with us this year for the big, spooky night, so i'm pretty pumped about that.

anyway, i digress....i was browsing etsy's halloween stuff and thought i'd share some favorites:

Greeting Card
love the look of this...would even be cute in a small frame maybe!

Headband
i am all about headbands. i like that this is orange, but not halloweeny so it could be used year-round.

Plush cats
Random, but cute!

Orange Purse with bats
I have a serious addiction to pocketbooks & bags...

What????
Who would want this staring at them in the shower????

Wall Pillow
Not sure why, but I LOVE this...so super fun and cute!

OK, I'm done :)

photos {sports}

These are the professional sports pictures of Spencer (baseball, obviously) and my nephew B0. He is now 15 and running cross country for his high school. This picture scares me. He looks so much like a man now!

layouts {rio}

I believe my scanner is finally working! Though these two came out pretty dark - maybe because of the thickness. Anyway, two 8x8 layouts for Rio's album...this pretty much wraps up his album through his first five years, and up to the point where we got Cooper. So, going forward I think I'll do a combined album for both of them and probably will stick with the 8x8 size.

photos {baseball game}

Just a couple of shots from one of Spencer's baseball games. Not great quality because it was a later game and dark (and flashes are off limits). I like how you can see the ball coming in the first shot (definitely a ball - way too high). He ended up walking, but the 2nd shot is Spencer coming home for the winning run! Final score was 3-1 over the Knights.

photos {carolina football game}

a few weeks ago, we took spencer to a carolina football game that was on his birthday. we try to go to one each year, but this one we wanted to be special. we got 4 tickets (great seats too) so he could take a friend. i bought fun stuff like wristbands, clappers and football cups for them...in addition to the wig, tattoos, pompoms and inflatable claws that we already had. we got down there early to tailgate - picked up wings and chicken fingers along the way, even packed a football shaped cake.
i promise i won't post a ton of slideshows like this all the time. but with spencer's birthday, i've taken a lot of pictures lately.
this was an awesome day...lots of great memories.

{foundation website}

i have finally made progress on the dalton help foundation website...i'd love for everyone to check it out...all feedback (constructive, especially) is much appreciated. i'm no web genius and i'm keeping it simple...but i hope it's ok.

it's definitely still a work in progress but i'm happy to report that it's working and there is enough information there to be somewhat helpful to someone that stumbles upon it.

{life lists}

i love lists...always have, i'm sure i always will.

so, today when i ran across
this post on ali edwards' website, i had to follow it...which lead me to this post on another blog. from there i discover that a woman has set up a wiki for everyone to join in on her fun. what's a wiki???? i had no idea either...apparently it's kind of like a blog, but you can have groups and you can edit it... so this woman has a life list - things to do basically, large and small. This wiki site allows others to join, post their lists and keep it updated...

so, i had to join in... i am only up to 68 but i'm sure my list will grow....check it out here. the point is to work toward crossing things off your list... here's goes nothing!
