reverb10 {day 5}

december five: let go
What (or whom) did you let go of this year? Why? (Author: Alice Bradley)

this is quite an easy one for me to answer. i let go of commitment. this is mainly my commitment to our neighborhood's HOA board. my one-year term has ended. but really, i've just stopped volunteering for everything. something i felt an obligation to do in the past.

i have continued helping the dalton help foundation on a very minimal level (blog maintenance and sitting on the board). when spencer entered middle school, i walked by an long length of tables awaiting parental volunteers and just kept going. not only did i not run again for my HOA position, i also did not remain on the committee i had been chairing. that was probably the most difficult of all decisions to make. i worked strenuously over the last year to build a program from scratch. and it was working. and it was well-received. to walk away from that, not knowing if it'd be left in good hands...that was tough. but i had to do it. i needed to do it. for me. for my family. for my career. no regrets.

***what is reverb10?***
Reverb 10 is an annual event and online initiative to reflect on your year and manifest what’s next. The end of the year is an opportunity to reflect on what's happened, and to send out reverberations for the year ahead. With Reverb 10, we'll do both.
sidenote: i decided to back date these posts to match the prompt dates. new posts will always show up "on top" in a reader, but if you come directly to the blog, you may need to scroll down a bit to find these daily *reverb* posts.
